The dogs are here, I’m just about done unpacking and I still love where I live. That is such a good feeling. After so much bad luck hitting me in 2011, it’s almost unreal to feel so calm and at peace.

Kendra and Fred have become Caitlin and Buddy. Caitlin is a sweetheart, loves to be petted and loves meeting new people. Buddy is not quite as social, but is a sweet guy none the less. He will take a little more time to come out of his shell. But that’s okay, I’ve got nothing but time left.

We went to the vet last week and the report was good. Both are very healthy. Ya-hoo! Love hearing that.

Now for the bad news. Apparently, there is a war on women’s rights being perpetuated by conservatives. What the Fish?!

Received this email last Friday:

“Where are the women?” With those four words, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) made the most poignant statement of the week about the House GOP’s attitude towards women. The simple answer to Maloney’s question is that women are being callously left out and left behind by the right wing.

According to a recent Democracy Corps survey, there’s been a net 18-point swing away from Mitt Romney in favor President Obama among unmarried women in the past few months. Why? Because women have been watching and listening to conservatives. Here’s a sampling of what we heard just this past week:

GOP Chairman Darrell Issa defending the exclusion of a woman from his all-male panel on contraception: She’s not “appropriate and qualified.” [Read more]Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld explaining why “liberals” support contraception coverage: “It’s more about getting rid of the poor.” [Read more]

Right-wing billionaire Foster Friess delivering his contraception advice on MSNBC: “You know, back in my days, they used Bayer Aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.” [Read more]

Virginia Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert rationalizing a state-sponsored bill mandating vaginal probes: A woman already consented to being “vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant.” [Read more]

Fox News’ Liz Trotta justifies why some women are assaulted in the military: “Now what did they expect?” [Read more]

Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association on women in combat: “Women are not wired, either by evolution or by God…to be in those positions.” [Read more]

Rick Santorum explaining his concerns about women in combat: “People naturally may do things that may not be in the interests of the mission because of other types of emotions that are involved.” [Read more]

At least they’re being honest about what they feel.

Poor Fred has been through the ringer. Missing half of one ear and a chunk out of the other. He really deserves and extra soft pillow. The female is a beautiful brindle.

Can’t wait to get them here!

No longer a slave to the 1% (Suck It, Chase Morgan!) I am starting my new life in an awesome condo in Seattle, awaiting the arrival of 2 adopted retired racing greyhounds. They come in 2 weeks, assuming that I pass home inspection and I hand over an obscene amount of money to the condo management and pay the adoption fees. Plus buy greyhound clothing because we are about to have the worst snowstorm in over 50 years. More on that later.

Also want to give a shout-out to the good folks at Royal Hounds Greyhound Adoptions – www.royalhounds.org – The more research I do on Greyhounds, the more I admire the breed. Perfect dogs for condos or apartments.
